02-06-10 As fate would have it my wife came across an auction set up by John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono to benefit the Food Banks of South Florida. At it were lithos & screens of various Lennon artwork & hand written songs. She settled in on a screened acid-proof framed limited edition copy of the song " Borrowed Time"...which was off the "Milk & Honey" album. The song...ironically...was written by John in June of 1980...six months before his murder at The Dakotas that December 8th. It is hard to believe John will be gone 30 years this December. It is number 865 out of 1000 pieces...not a whole lot. She had her eye on the art piece "Afternoon Tea" from 1977...but that was a little steep. However, what she has is signed and dated by John...a very nice piece to be sure. And the monies she spent for it went to a great cause. Thank you Yoko for offering the pieces and your kindness of donating all proceeds to the food bank.
02-07-10 UPDATE... H revisited the John Lennon art auction this morning & bought an art piece, (One Day At A Time), to go with the song sheet she purchased yesterday. Now we have a 1 in 300 artpiece and a 1 in 1000 song lyric sheet from Lennon. I tweeted @YokoOno and thanked her for her making them available and the donations of all proceeds to the South Florida food banks.
